The deadly climate change and carbon tax swindle
June 27th, 2011 · 116 Comments
Over the last few years I have watched the debate about global warming descend into a political and celebrity ego-fuelled circus event where hard science plays merely a supporting role. It’s not clear what such measures as a carbon tax will even achieve on a global scale besides generating tax revenues for governments and making plenty of bankers happy. Meanwhile millions of people die from hunger and disease every year and there is no tax being implemented to help them.
Carbon, a new tax and Gillard’s Lifeform Levy
February 27th, 2011 · 34 Comments
The recent announcement by Julia Gillard that she is breaking an election promise and will attempt to bring in a Carbon Tax should come as no surprise to anyone. It is simply a reflection of the madness that is the Greens/Labor Party alliance and another example of a policy developed by a Government hooked on spending and raising taxation.
The floods, the loony Greens and a new tax

The devastating floods across much of Australia should remind people that Australia has been for a long time, a land of drought and flooding rains. The floods have tragically not only taken lives, but will also have a lasting negative impact on the economy and sadly the Government seems intent on using the floods as an excuse for it’s own poor management of the economy.
The great Australian election hangover.

Well after a few weeks of uncertainty following the federal election in Australia, the Australian Labor Party (ALP) has managed to pull together a ragged alliance and hold onto power. Some people say that a minority government will be a refreshing change and can work well, but I believe that the coalition that Julia Gillard has put together will result in few tough decisions being made and could end up damaging the Australian economy.
Pink batts, a revived Federal Opposition and an election year.

I have not focused on the Australian political landscape for a few months but the recent tragic deaths of 4 people installing home insulation as part of the Rudd Governments spend-a-thon, has reminded me of the dangers of a government obsessed with poll numbers and popularity.
Climate change fakes and fakers: the mindless mob.
January 15th, 2010 · 29 Comments
Over the past year or so those who have questioned the science behind Anthropogenic (human-induced) Global Warming have been subjected to ridicule and harassment especially by dim witted journalists and politicians. But the real villains in the global warming story are those who preach climate change, but do little to rescue their own carbon footprint. Why are these people not held up to ridicule I wonder?
ASX stocks, the Baltic Dry Index & the Copenhagen Circus.

Both the ASX All Ordinaries and S&P/ASX 200 have been basically moving sideways now since September and although the market may seem to be drifting, it is actually reflecting fairly accurately the state of the Australian economy. For despite what some finance journalists seem to believe, the Australian economy will not be able to surge ahead simply because the Chinese are stimulating their domestic economy.
The madness of King Malcolm and the Emissions Trading Scheme.

From the moment the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) concept was floated I had an uneasy feeling about it and unlike a lot of recent anti-ETS converts, I have voiced my opposition to this legislation for many, many months. Simply put, I don’t see the logic in trying to help the planet with a tax.
A G-20 love-in, world leaders on parade and spoonfed journalists
September 26th, 2009 · 17 Comments
Thank goodness for the G-20 meetings, they are 2.5 time more exciting than the G-8 ones and they require more people to jet around pumping lots more Co2 into the atmosphere. After the latest lovefest in Pittsburgh it seems the global economy has been saved, the world is united in fighting global warming and Elvis was found serving drinks at one of the cocktail parties.
Rudd Watch: Has Kev07 delivered as promised?
July 21st, 2009 · 21 Comments
The Rudd Government still holds a commanding lead over the Opposition according to opinion polls and Kevin Rudd himself enjoys a high popularity rating. But what has Rudd and his team actually delivered to the Australian public in terms of completed projects or successful outcomes?
Are climate change and global warming dangerous distractions?
July 15th, 2009 · 97 Comments
If you are to believe politicians and movie stars, then planet earth is warming up and it is all our fault. However the real “inconvenient truth” is that all within the scientific community do not all agree that global warming is caused by human activity alone and many climate scientists suggest the planet is not heating up at all. So is there a danger we are focusing on the wrong threat?
Economic Groupthink: a dangerous trend.
November 28th, 2008 · No Comments
One of the worrying trends that has emerged in Australia during 2008 is the way the government has created an atmosphere that is conducive to groupthink (group think) behaviour. Views that are not aligned with “Rudd’s World” are attacked as reckless or irresponsible by the government, and the mainstream media appear willing to slap down any dissenting opinions.
Global warming: do your own research!

I have to admit that I am a bit of a skeptic when it comes to the theory that human activity is the primary reason for the apparent rise in global temperatures. My main reason for being a skeptic is the fact that the link between global warming and human activity is only one (of many) scientific “theories” that attempt to explain the reason why the earth “appears” to be getting warmer.
